Kingdom Builders

This is a ministry which allows the youth in Middle District churches to help the elderly and needy in South Richmond, Powhatan, Amelia and Chesterfield counties.  Each year homes are repaired and painted by our youth. The goal is to rotate the area served each year.

When: Fall 2008

Where: Powhatan County

This will be a one day event to do home repairs for the elderly.  Contact the Associational Office or your youth leader to inquire about signing up. Contact Matt Winters for information, mlwint@hotmail.com or click on this registration link for a registration form.

Christmas Store

Each year the churches within our association supply items (year round) which help those in need at Christmas have a wonderful holiday.  Members of the churches not only supply the new items but they also volunteer to do the gathering, setting, selling, shopping and pricing.  Every family who is in need of what this ministry has to offer is also provided with a new Bible. Contact Wanda Pratt for information: Knw1960@aol.com

Toronto- Virginia Partnership

The Toronto Area Association of Baptist Churches (TAABC) in Canada, and four local associations of Baptist churches in Virginia (Dover, Middle District, NorthStar and Richmond), have formed a mission partnership to run through the end of 2008.  If your church group is interested in planning a trip and need further information, please contact Walter McIntyre, walter.mcintyre@kipling.org or call, 416-550-3386.

Central Virginia Baptist Ministries

Ministry projects throughout the metro Richmond area are offered by Central Virginia Baptist Ministries. This ministry is a unique partnership between Middle District, Dover, and Richmond associations and was formed in 2006 as cooperative effort to impact our region with the love of God through hands-on-mission opportunties. For more information, contact Rev. May: nita.may@cvbm.org and see the web site: cvbm.org

Raceway Ministries

Throughout the year, major races are held at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) and volunteers from our churches serve as guest services program of RIR by providing raceway fans an opportunity to worship, enjoy Christian music and arts, discover the message of Christ through media and know His transforming presence.  Volunteers serve in our Hospitality Ministry Tent where they give a “cup of cold water” and cookie giveaways, distribue Christian driver witness cards, and act as ambassadors of goodwill. Often churches bring singers and musical groups or performing arts groups such as clowns, magicians, mimes, jugglers, balloon artist, etc. Other opportunities include chaplains and crisis counselors (certified), logistics and support persons. For information, contact Rev. Nita May, nita.may@cvbm.org .

School Supplies

Each August Middle District coordinates the efforts of churches by encouraging the members to collect large quantities of school supplies which are donated to the school boards within our association. In turn, the school board distributes these to the needest families within each school. The deadline to bring supplies is normally the last week of August. Please contact the MDBA office or Wanda Pratt with any questions. The Middle District WMU now coordinates this ministry. The collection site for 2008 in your area is as follows:

Special Assistance

Individual Assistance

As needs arise, the members of Middle District churches are notified and they respond by supplying food,  furniture, and other forms of help throughout the year. This is made possible as needs are sent to the Middle District office, mdba@mdba.org, and churches and individuals are contacted through our MDBA email network.

Financial assistance is also provided by the members of our association churches to Camp Alkulana youth camp through the collection of Campbell soup labels.
