Listed below are Middle District mission projects for you and your church.
Mission House
Middle District is actively looking for land to build a Habitat type house. The proceeds of the sale of the house to a needy family will go to help off-set the cost of the house for the family, as well as fund some much needed MDBA ministries in the future. If you have land or funds to donate toward this ministry, or know someone that does, please contact our office.
Kingdom Builders
This is a ministry which allows the youth in Middle District churches to help the elderly and needy in South Richmond, Powhatan, Amelia and Chesterfield counties. Each year homes are repaired and painted by our youth. The goal is to rotate the area served each year. The 2010 Fall date will be posted soon. Click here for registration form.
Christmas Store
Each year the churches within our association supply items which help those in need at Christmas have a wonderful holiday. Members of the churches not only supply the new items but they also volunteer to do the gathering, setting up, and selling. Every family who is in need of what this ministry has to offer is also provided with a new Bible. We work in cooperation with social service workers in Chesterfield County schools for applicants at this time. Please contact Wanda Pratt for information on how your church can help: Knw1960@aol.com
Central Virginia Baptist Ministries
Ministry projects throughout the metro Richmond area are offered by Central Virginia Baptist Ministries. This ministry is a unique partnership between Middle District, Dover, and Richmond associations and was formed in 2006 as cooperative effort to impact our region with the love of God through hands-on-mission opportunties. For more information, contact the MDBA office, mdba@mdba.org and see the web site: www.cvbm.org
Raceway Ministries
Throughout the year, major races are held at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) and volunteers from our churches serve as guest services program of RIR by providing raceway fans an opportunity to worship, enjoy Christian music and arts, discover the message of Christ through media and know His transforming presence. Volunteers serve in our Hospitality Ministry Tent where they give a “cup of cold water” and cookie giveaways, distribue Christian driver witness cards, and act as ambassadors of goodwill. Often churches bring singers and musical groups or performing arts groups such as clowns, magicians, mimes, jugglers, balloon artist, etc. Other opportunities include chaplains and crisis counselors (certified), logistics and support persons. For information, contact Rev. Billy Davis, billy.davis1@verizon.net .
School Supplies
Each summer Middle District coordinates the efforts of churches by encouraging the members to collect large quantities of school supplies which are donated to the school boards within our association. In turn, the school board distributes these to the needest families within each school. Please contact the MDBA office or Wanda Pratt with any further questions. The Middle District WMU now coordinates this ministry.
Latino Ministry
This ministry focuses on the Latino population in Middle District. Currently this ministry is in transition as we search for the most effective methods of doing ministry and beginning Bible studies that develop into Latino congregations. Please contact our office for more information.
Local Missions Offering
Our annual Associational Offering in memory of Missionary Nannie Bland David. Each year the offering supports ministries in and through our region. For more info, see "MDBA Offerings".

English As a Second Language (ESL)
Teaching English to those who cannot speak our language is a wonderful way to show the love of Christ. Throughout the year, opportunities to become trained to teach ESL or to use these skills to teach English are available.
Special Assistance
Individual Assistance
As needs arise, the members of Middle District churches are notified and they respond by supplying food, furniture, and other forms of help throughout the year. This is made possible as needs are sent to the Middle District office, mdba@mdba.org, and churches and individuals are contacted through our MDBA email network.
Financial assistance is also provided by the members of our association churches to Camp Alkulana youth camp through the collection of Campbell soup labels.
Ongoing Missions Trips
Each year members from our MDBA churches participate in ongoing foreign missions work. If you are interested in:
- going on a mission trip that has been planned by another church
- looking for partners in a mission project you want to develop
- information on creating your own mission trip
- contact Executive Director, Dr. James Hamacher, Jim@mdba.org.
