Building a Ministry House

Similar to a “Habitat House” Middle District volunteers will begin building a “ministry house” in the fall of 2012.  The sale of the house at a below market price will benefit a family who otherwise cannot own a home and also provide revenue for Middle District ministries to strengthen MDBA churches.

This ministry goal is the result of our church volunteers going to Louisiana to build a home for an older gentleman who was displaced because of hurricane Katrina.  Our people returned and began talking of building such a house here in the Middle District region.

Middle District has had land donated to make this God-given ministry dream a reality and we are currently working toward  groundbreaking.   We are encouraged and excited that so many volunteers are eager to participate in this special missions opportunity.  If you or a group from your church would be interested in helping, please contact our MDBA office.

Update: February 2012

Due to complications beyond our control, the construction of this house does not have a firm date.  We continue to move forward with the process and look forward to announcing this summer the anticipated groundbreaking.

Organizing

As soon as all the needed approvals are secured, the Missions and Ministry Team will will ask its special Family Selection Task Force to contact our churches to receive names of potential candidates whom might qualify to purchase the house at a very discounted price.

If you know of people who might be interested in helping with this ministry, please have them give Jim Hamacher a call, 276-8481 or contact Steve Vaughan, Missions & Ministry Team chairman. Sooner rather than later would be much appreciated.
